So after showing sir our task, we learnt that many of the things we done, didn’t quite go so well. For example, the editing didn’t go well. We didnt give ourselves enough editing space, and this meant that the editing couldnt be done well! And that is mainly because we used the camera to edit, and from this we have learnt that you shouldn’t ever do that! And so this didn’t help us edit. However, Clip no. 3 was done really well, and that is how we should have done all of our other shots. The edit of other shots weren’t as smooth as this shot. We need to make sure that when we do our final piece we need to ensure that we give ourselves enough editing space and we need to do this by making sure we record a clip more than once, and this can be done by making sure we use all possible angles, and all possible shots. For example, close ups, mid shots, long shots, establishing shots, high angle, low angle, eye-level etc.

What went well in the preliminary task
We re-watched the preliminary task with our teacher so we could be given positive and negative feedback. The positive feedback that we were given was that the 3rd shot worked well because that shot gave us more room to edit. In the previous shot we were told that the edit was smooth and effective because we made it seem as if the girl (me) was actually walking towards the room and because I walked into the shot instead of me being in the shot in the first second of recording. The edit from clip 7 to clip 8 reflected on us understanding the different types of shots and how and when they can be used. The edit was from a mid-shot to a wide shot which reflected on how we are able to choose the right angles and know where to put it.

What we have learnt from the Preliminary task
After re-watching our preliminary task we have seen mistakes we have made. Something we have learnt is that we need to film a lot more in each take. The editing in out task is not as smooth as it should be at times, as there are jumps and some actions did not match. This is a valuable lesson for us to learn before the filming of the main task as other wise our film would not fit together smoothly damaging the effect we would be trying to create for a thriller and also so that we don’t have to re-shoot which would take away important time needed for editing.
Another lesson we have learnt is that we should always start with an empty frame to again make editing smoother and give us lots of film to work with. In the preliminary task the shot with the door used an empty frame to begin with an was effective however the next shot should also have used this and meant the editing was not as smooth because we didn’t do this.
We also have realized that filming many different angles for each shot would be a lot more beneficial as some shots in the preliminary task would have worked a lot better in a different angle which we realized during edit, but we had no other angles to work with. By doing this in our main task we would make editing easier and also have many different angles to work with if an angle we thought would fit did not fit in edit. This will be a valuable technique especially as we are making a thriller, in which it is important to keep suspense and tension and also keep the audience engaged.
I am not as happy with the preliminary task as I would have wanted, however it has taught us many lessons and given us pointers to make the main task great.

Now what?
Now i think we should do our institutional research, individually and then we should do a write up of our opening film sequence.
Sarah the location is perfect and yeah I do think you should get more pictures.
oh yeah we also need a character profile of the girl so it's easier for us to create the character and show her representations through the props we use.
Sarah can i use you as a model to work out where or how i'll place the blood on you for the dead scene.
Is that ok with you lot?

Our final idea...in depth
We have decided...
The girl stretches for her daily morning jog (we have at least 4/5 different angles in which we see the girl stretch) then we see her jog, she comes towards the camera which is placed low angle. We then cut to seeing her run towards the woods, the camera slightly tilts to indicate her world will now turn upside down- which may suggest something terrible will happen to her. We then cut to the girl running with her headphones in (we have at least 5 different angles in which we see her running- so we can decide which cut works better when it's time for the editing). Then there is one scene where we don't use the tripod, the camera is behind the girl as if someone/something is there and it's following her. Then the camera goes towards her at a fast pace and it suddenly rotates in front of her. We see her facial expressions, as if she realizes that something is there. She takes out her headphones and she hears strange noises. Then again we have another fast pace following scene but this time the girl turns around to see who/what it is, the camera also rotates with her yet we don't see anything. At a fast pace the camera starts rotating the girl this suggests that she is worried and this is when she starts running faster and faster into the woods. We hear louder and stranger sounds as she runs. then there is a flash back and we find the girl dead in the woods and there is blood surrounding her. we hear a non-diegetic sound of the girl "my name is......." at the same time we have the titles for the film and camera pans upwards towards the sky. we have the name of the film and we have a blackout....
what do you think, you guys?

New Location
I have found a new location to shoot our film. I think this location has the perfect mise-en-scene for our film and also fits with the plot well. The location is within a close distance of the school so will be easy to get to and will give us plenty of time to shoot. It also fits the look for all of our planned scenes to be filmed. If the group likes the location I have found then i think it will be perfect. I have taken some pictures i think can be used as shots in the film.

Trip
Yesterday we went on a media trip to the BFI. We listened to Debra Hayward, who works for Working Title. We had a chance to ask her questions, someone asked her about her daily routine and if you can get work experiance with Working Title. We watched clips from certain movies and we had a booklet to fill in. Over all, it was a long day, however the highlight of my day was listening to Debra Hayward talk.

Opening sequence title ideas
In my opinion i think that the shorter the title is, the more intregied the audience become and so want to watch the film because the name gives the plot of the film and so therefore the audience might like the idea of the film and so will go and see it. Some films that are amazing because of their short names are 'Jaws' , Scary Movie' . This gave me the inspiration to have our name of the film as short and effective as possible which is how i came to the name ' The Last Run'. This isn't for definate, but if everyone else likes the name and we dont come up with another then thats what our film will be called because it basically explains the narrative of the film.

change of location
Originally our idea for the main location was Epping Forest. However, we have now realized that this location is not appropriate as it is too far away which would cut filming time. The mise-en-scene would not suit the storyline. We are now looking at another location suggested by Sarah.
